Higher Self, detail (2021)

I trust in the light

Summer Blake November 21, 2022

I trust in the light
of the Universe
to guide me
to where
I seek
to Grow.

I trust in the taste
of my own tears
The swell of my own blood
Each embodied emanation
releasing from me
the ancient trail of shame.

Blessed body,
Nourish me from my sacred well.
Restore to me
my secret reservoir.

I clasp the chalice of my precious Rose.
I drink of my own divinity.

So, then
So hum
I bow and draw breath
finding my tether
finding in the balance
in the in and out
in life and death
This holy vibration
Beating my heart
A hollow drum
resonating
from the inside out.

I bow deep
to the sacred Flame
to the hearth that birthed me
to the womb that loved me
And to my tomb I lay me
And at my mother’s breast I kneel me
Where with my last breath I give me
Return myself to Infinite Source.

But until then
I beg thee,
All kin stay awhile
and tarry with me

As I stoop
kindling my twigs in the Great Fire
Shrouded and swaying
My old bones
and my ancient skin decaying
a subtle form dissolving & dispersing
like sand
like countless stars
winking and waving
glimmering pearls scattered
on the ocean floor.

The Joy of It

Summer Blake December 30, 2021

Always for me
there has been a sense of:
What more must I bear?
What more must I undergo?

A sense of trust poised to break,
ready to guard itself
when joy has been perceived
to be stolen.

Numina Is Born

Summer Blake December 27, 2021

Numina—

I call to her,
she is born—

Numina:
The Formless into Form—
The Eye within the Storm—

The ocean’s deepest longing,
The grit that shapes the pearl
The pearl that makes the oyster
A joy to behold.

As Numina
We stand fierce & loving
One foot in the fire
One foot in cold ashes
Forever ascending,
eternally subsiding.

The Wisdom of the Trees

Summer Blake November 16, 2021

Come Autumn, the pigment of the leaves dramatically changes from green to fiery reds, yellows, and oranges. The Phoenix burns. Leaf by leaf, the trees loosen their grip. And as the leaves scatter to the forest floor, so do they become the fertile soil which will bring new life come spring. Again the Phoenix will rise, as it ceaselessly does, year and year again.

Into Autumn

Summer Blake November 15, 2021

Into Autumn’s well
I dip my chalice
and I drink deep.

Leaves crumble in my mouth.
I taste ancient blood
a cold, wet, bitter tang
& a sense of foreboding.
What did I dare
come here
to do?
