Into the Heart of this Infinite Moment

About the Art

This piece was influenced and inspired by the concept of the vision quest - a particular type of rite of passage that has been carried out in various Native American cultures for countless generations. The seeker journeys into nature, often under extreme conditions, spending time in solitude. Though the experience may vary, typically, the intention is to connect to one’s inner wisdom or guide(s) during certain critical moments in life. It is an inward looking, self-reflective journey.

The Huichol, or Wixáritari, are an indigenous people of the Sierra Madres. Their traditional methods of creating art are closely aligned with the shamanistic practices which form the backbone of their culture and, among many other things, aid them in communing with their ancestor spirits. 50% profits from the sale of this original will be donated to the Huichol Foundation’s Artisan Apprenticeship Program, which provides direct economic support to individuals and familial groups of artists in training.
